According to the analysis by Confesercenti, in Ostia a drop in takings of around 16% was recorded
Rome, 16 August 2024 – “Despite the positive tourism numbers in the Capital, +5% for new arrivals and +4% of presences as highlighted by Federalberghi a few days ago, the Fiepet-Confesercenti Observatory of Rome and Lazio, for this month of August, records negative signals for Roman catering, particularly in the historic center and in the province of Rome. A cascade effect also on the lack of reservations for the day of Ferragosto”. This is what Claudio Pica, president of Fiepet-Confesercenti of Rome and Lazio, declares, who underlines: “In the city there is a -14% of takings due both to the great heat of these weeks, and to the closure of many public establishments and the consequent reduction in the restaurant offer which can be estimated at around 50%. The decline was less noticeable, -6%, in the suburbs where the option of the local and neighborhood restaurant – especially in the case of pizzerias – was rewarded compared to the central areas“.
Data on the Lazio coast
On the Lazio coast, in particular in Ostia – according to data processed by Confesercenti of Ostia – a drop in takings of around 16% can be seendue both to the great heat but also and above all to the lack of evening events on the Roman coast, further penalizing the entrepreneurs of Ostia. On the Lazio coast, however, there was a 6% drop in bookings compared to the previous year. Overall an average of 12% is lost, numbers that penalize not only the restaurant industryincluding raw materials and logistics, but also employment levels”. (source: Ansa)
