Formia, August 16, 2024 – In order to ensure greater safety on the beaches of our town and also in the mountain areas, the “Quad” surveillance service is operational in the territory of the Municipality of Formia. Special four-wheel drive vehicles supplied to the Local Police, purchased through funds made available by the Lazio Region and approved by the municipal council led by Mayor Gianluca Taddeo as part of the executive project called “DGR n. 298/2024 – Interventions for the enhancement and economic promotion of the Lazio coast, which provides for the purchase of equipment for guarding and surveillance on the beaches and which aims to support the Municipalities in managing the critical issues related to the bathing season”.
The two quads (520cc), which will be used together with the help of a scooter (125cc), have for some years, thanks to their versatility, played a very important role in the various Local Police forces, suitable for use both on public roads and on beaches and coastlines but also in inaccessible areas, allowing them to reach areas that are difficult to travel and pass through and a significant advantage for the officers to move more easily for constant and continuous monitoring of the two coastlines of Vindicio and Gianola-Santo Janni.
An activity that has already received initial appreciation, arousing interest and visibility that increases the perception of community safety, also satisfying the needs and sense of proximity between the citizen and the Local Police forces.
A constant presence along the beach, which also includes measures to combat illegal trade, to verify state concessions, to assist people, and to protect legality.
