Jack Miller spoke on the eve of the Austrian GP, home GP for KTM. But the Australian also spoke about his future, still uncertain but certainly no longer in KTM since next year the quartet will be Acosta-Binder-Vinales-Bastianini.
Sul GP al Red Bull Ring…
“It’s a weekend we’ve always looked forward to. This is a spectacular Grand Prix, not just because of the location, but because of everything around the Grand Prix. There’s a great atmosphere with a lot of fans and these Northern European fans are always really special. So let’s hope the weather stays good for the rest of the weekend. It looks promising.”
On the Silverstone GP”
“Last time at Silverstone I felt better for most of the weekend. Sunday didn’t feel ideal in the race compared to the race on Saturday. We only had one small issue. But you know, overall, the speed was a bit better step by step. I think we’re on the right track.”
Your mood is a little better than two weeks ago…
“The mood is definitely better. Yeah, a little better for sure. It doesn’t feel like the world is falling apart, but we’ll see.”
But is it because it seems like you’re getting closer to a possible deal?
“It could be. Yeah. I mean, there’s some truth to the rumors. Obviously we’re in touch and trying to work something out. You know, I feel like I have a lot more to give. So I’d love to have the opportunity to try to show more.”
Then Miller commented on the fact that there are many Spanish and Italian riders in the championship…
“I don’t want to be here for my passport. I want to be here for my speed. Obviously Spain and Italy have extremely strong drivers at the moment, but I don’t want to be here just for my passport. I don’t care about that. I want to be here because I think I can fight with these guys, in Q2 last week and in the top seven in the Sprint race. I mean, I still have the speed, but I feel like I still have a lot to learn and a lot to grow. So, you know, I don’t want to be here just because I’m Australian, I want to be here for the speed.”
Isn’t that something you’re comfortable using in negotiations?
“These people are spending millions and millions upon millions of dollars to go racing, whether you’re Australian or Spanish or Chinese or whatever. If you go fast they’ll sign you. So I mean, that’s the main goal.”
