The praise continues for the Spanish talent who, as a rookie, is enchanting the experts and fans. “A talent like this is seen every 10/15 years” says his crew chief Trevathan

After ten races in the top class, debutant Pedro Acosta only needs the consecration of a race victory to crown what is a rookie year that has already exceeded all expectations. And it is not us at Ruetir who say it but personalities like Carmelo Ezpeleta: “he went beyond the expectations that were already high” declared the patron of the championship. He is currently sixth in the world championship with two podiums (in the second and third races with the second place in Austin) and another three podiums in the Sprints for a total of 122 points that speaks to us of concreteness, of solidity. Let’s not forget that even the most talented riders in their first year of MotoGP have always had ups and downs and have had to deal with numerous falls: one above all, Stoner. For the twenty-year-old from Murcia there have only been two retirements so far. Better than him, in his first year, in terms of standings, only Marc Marquez made a comparison that is decidedly uncomfortable for anyone. Let’s not forget, however, that Pedro Acosta only made his debut in the MotoGP World Championship in 2021, taking home two world titles in three years and arriving in MotoGP after just three seasons… Definitely someone who burns the stages.
The Spanish champion has been receiving illustrious praise since his first race in MotoGP. The latest in chronological order comes directly from his team manager, someone who has seen a lot of riders pass by. Hervé Poncharal told DAZN: “It might seem exaggerated, but he is the best rider I have ever worked with.” A sign of esteem that is no small thing, in short.
His crew chief Paul Trevathan also highlighted Pedro’s skill: “A rider like that comes out every ten, fifteen years. Considering how much he works and how much he is committing himself, I think the sky is the limit”. It makes you wonder what else he could have done with an even more competitive bike. KTM-GASGAS had a good start to the season but is losing ground more and more during the championship. As we already know, Pedro will leave Team Tech 3 for the official KTM team next season. At that point the expectations will be even higher, but at the moment the rider seems more ready for the bike. We’ll see.
