Oscar Fraulo returned to Gladbach with high hopes. Last season, the 20-year-old Dane impressed as a loan player in the Eredivisie for FC Utrecht. With a lot of match practice and self-confidence behind him, the midfielder now wanted to attack for the Fohlen and secure an important role in the team.
As the preparations progressed, however, the initial euphoria seemed to be increasingly replaced by disillusionment. Fraulo was not really able to make a lasting impression and was more likely to just float along than stand out with strong actions. As a result, it will be very difficult for him to be on the pitch regularly in Borussia’s tightly packed midfield in 24/25.
The solution from Gladbach’s point of view seems to be another loan. Since Fraulo is still under contract until 2026, this option would be possible without any problems. According to Sky There are already two concrete interested parties: Utrecht would like to loan Fraulo again, and second division club Hannover 96 is said to have put out feelers.
VfL officials are said to welcome another loan and are in talks with both clubs. A deal – either back to the Eredivisie or to the 2nd division – could therefore be finalized in the coming days. The renewed loan could be accelerated if Fraulo does not play a role in the first competitive match in the DFB Cup. Gladbach will face third division club Erzgebirge Aue on Saturday (1 p.m.).
