Becoming extremely famous in a matter of months is an experience that can be overwhelming.
For Ortega, seeing how famous she had become was a bittersweet experience.

Actress Jenna Ortiz recently gave an interview with Vanity Fair where she reflected on what it was like to instantly achieve fame in Wednesday, the 2022 Netflix series that tells the story of the iconic Addams Family character while attending Nevermore Academy, which became a huge hit on the streaming platform.
We’ve known for quite some time that the second season of Miércoles is confirmed, so Ortega will reprise his lead role, albeit with the absence of other characters. And while the release date for the new installment is not yet confirmed, it is likely to arrive sometime in 2025.
The role that changed Jenna Ortega’s life
In the interview, Ortega took some time to explain what it was like to experience Miércoles’ success firsthand. The actress was initially unable to process how her fame had grown exponentially overnight. Ortega was very bewildered by everything that had happened. She then explains what her career has been like since then and how it has changed since then:
I spent a lot of my life on a set with other people telling me what to wear, what to do, what to say. I realized that I had lived pretty much my whole life under this naive perspective that I never questioned or challenged things because I never felt like I needed to. It was the first time I felt like I really had to ask myself what I wanted.
His success has not been without controversy
It’s clear that Ortega’s reaction to her fame is a completely reasonable one – after all, she became world-famous almost overnight. And while Ortega has been in contact with acting since her childhood, it wasn’t until the premiere of Wednesday in November 2022 that her career leapt into true stardom.
Jenna Ortega went from being an unknown who had contributed her talent to a few films to being an extremely well-known actress. In fact, in a matter of months, Miércoles earned her her first Emmy nomination, and also her debut as a presenter on Saturday Night Live. And of course, it also opened doors for her to play other roles.
But at the same time, Ortega’s recent comments on Wednesday immediately remind us of some controversial comments the actress has said about her experiences on set. For example, in March 2023 the star was quoted in an interview where she went on to criticize some of Wednesday’s scripts, pointing out that they made no sense for her character. This caused her to act unprofessionally by changing lines on the fly.
But it is worth noting that Ortega most likely did not have any ill intentions with his comments, as they were discussed in the wake of the Hollywood screenwriters’ strike that was sweeping the film world at the time.
Although, in fact, because of this background, for Ortega, standing up for what she wanted on set and breaking away from that frustrating feeling of being told what to say is quite risky. That’s why in the same interview, Ortega admitted that she probably could have used her words better when it came to addressing the situation.
Still, the year of her rise to fame has made the actress more aware of these issues, and in particular, the impact of her words. But this has not erased her negative legacy due to the “disparaging” of her previous comments towards the writers of Wednesday.
