The Netflix platform gives films a new life and allows many people who did not see them in the cinema to enjoy them via streaming.
The film Where the Crawdads Sing has managed to make it into the Top 10 of the most watched lists on Netflix in many countries. At the time, it was also successful in cinemas, as with a budget of around 24 million dollars it grossed more than 144 million.
Is The Wild Girl worth watching on Netflix? The answer is yes. In the first, we follow Kya’s childhood and adolescence, exploring her struggle with abandonment, social rejection, and her personal development in a world that fears and misunderstands her. This story of resilience and loneliness contrasts with the second timeline, which focuses on a criminal mystery. In 1969, Kya becomes the prime suspect in the murder of Chase Andrews, a young man from the town with whom she had a complex relationship.
Not to mention that the Netflix film delves into themes of isolation, prejudice, and survival in the face of adversity. In addition, the direction exquisitely captures the wild beauty of the marshes, which act as another character in the story, underlining the indissoluble bond between Kya and her environment. The story, which moves between drama, romance, and suspense, invites us to reflect on human nature and the power of redemption, while keeping the viewer in suspense until its revealing conclusion.
