They are Disney+precisely the August 14, 2024it will arrive The Bear Season 3 with all the episodes available at launch, one of the most appreciated series of the contemporary panorama, which has had, among its many merits, that of bringing back into fashion the audiovisual narrative linked to cooking on the small screen and launching several actors, including young talents waiting to make the leap in quality and faces that will soon become very well known to audiences around the world.
On the occasion of this new part of the original series Hulu the usual meeting was held Global Press Conference in which almost the entire cast participated: Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott, Ricky Staffieri e Matty Mathesonwho is also executive producer and author.
We talked about the fixed points on which the new season is based, the changes that have occurred in terms of culinary commitment and the common evolution of all the characters, united by a precise feeling that pushes them together towards a very specific common direction. During the conference, the main focus was on thisbut also on the renewed role of food, the city of Chicago and some juicy curiosities.
“Words are important!”
The writing work of The Bear has always been based on keywordsmantras that have returned and return throughout the seasons becoming ways to decode the hidden meanings in the story told in the various episodes. But if those directly involved were to describe this third part with just one adjective? Could be “elevation“, as Ricky Staffieri suggests, or “precision” as Lionel Boyce says, or, again “perfection” o “pain“, two very related words according to Abby Elliot. But why not “dream?”, a very good or very harmful thing, according to Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri. One thing that more or less everyone agrees on is the expression “non-negotiable“.
But, speaking of non-negotiable, one of the real key words of the season right from the start, what’s non-negotiable in a series like The Bear? Per Edited:
…be kind to each other and learn your lines well.
For Allen White, however, it is fundamental:
Always show up prepared, but also punctual and, above all, always stay hydrated.
Infine, per Elliot:
The most important thing is to always take vitamin C.
In the trailer for the third season of The BearCarmy presents a deal in Sydney partnership. So maybe another key word could be “agreement”. But what could a promotion mean for a character like that and, above all, to what kind of evolution Can this be brought to the relationship between the two young protagonists?
Written Response:
One of the things we’re dealing with this season is what it means for Sydney and what it would mean that next step for her relationship with Carmy, who is someone I think she really admired, but now she’s kind of in the thick of things. And I think it’s a lot more chaotic than she might have idealized before they actually started working together.
Allen White fully agrees with this answer, adding about his character:
I think Carmen is not the best communicator in the world, but she’s going to make a big effort this season to try to get through to Syd or the kitchen or whoever. And I think she’s going to finally show his way of approaching the world. I often feel that people are not prepared to receive because they always have so many things on their minds that they lose awareness of what is happening around them.
AND always a question of food
As is right, the focus of the Global Press Conference of The Bear 3 moves on to its main protagonist: the food. This time in fact the effort in creating recipes was even greater than before, given the dishes on the menu in the show itself they change quite often. How are decisions made about creating the dishes? Which were the most difficult to create?
Matty Matheson, star and executive producer of the show, responds:
Yes, our producer Courtney Storer she also does a lot of the menu development. I work with her and her team for a long time and brainstorm ideas about what Carmy and Syd might think about making certain types of dishes, creating a particular menu, and ultimately how they would present themselves through a culinary lens. We are lucky to work with some really good chefs. and Courtney is incredible at following the process and bringing the food to life. Some dishes were more difficult than others, for example a lot of Lionel and Marcus’ desserts. Pastry is pretty much a science, there’s a lot of things that go into it. But overall, I think it’s just about trying to make beautiful, thoughtful food and then push yourself beyond the limits.
Another of the protagonists of the series is certainly the city of chicagowhich has its own great cultural tradition and very important restaurants, some of which have already been on screen in previous seasons. Will there be something new in this sense in this third part? Matheson always answers: “We’re just showing that we love Chicago. There will be more little hints of that. Chris (Storer) cares a lot about it and it’s rubbed off on everyone and I think showing and highlighting a lot of the wonderful things about the city is something that comes naturally to us.”
Edebiri agrees, adding:
So many restaurants and so many people who work there they were instrumental in our show and in helping us make it happen. Whether it’s real chefs that come from amazing places in Chicago, that help us and teach us, or restaurateurs that let us use their locations. We have a beautiful relationship with all of them and we are all so grateful to them.
We face pain together
In this third season of The Bear the pain seems to be a kind of river that flows through the entire connective tissue of the show. “Yes, I have the feeling – Fixed dice – that many different characters have grief that has affected them in different ways. Dealing with grief is definitely one of the main threads of the series, so I think the storytelling of the various trials is central to this season.”
Moss-Bachrach echoes her, adding:
I would say that It’s one of the strong points of the series and I think the reason it connects so many people is that grief is a feeling that just runs through everyone. And it’s maybe one of the few commonalities that we all share in the human experience. And so, yeah, it’s always there and everyone deals with it in their own way. Or chooses not to.
A pain that, in Carmy’s case, came out once again in the accident that affected him in last season’s finalesomething that will surely have an effect on him and the rest of the team. Allen White comments as follows:
I think Carmy does what she does after the fridge because he is shocked by it: he buries himself in his work again and tries to challenge himself again, but this time he goes further, challenging everyone around him as well and I think it becomes quite challenging to be around him as well.
At the end of the press conference there was space for a couple of curiosities: one concerning Edebiri, who directed an episode of the third season of The Bear and the other about a rumor that this last part and the fourth were filmed consecutively. The actress’s comment on her experience:
Yes, directing was fantastic. I really liked it. It’s like a dream to be able to work with our crew as an actor. And so, I think by extension of directing, that feeling was just amplified. And then, I got to direct some of my favorite actors in the world, and it felt like a bit of a masterclass but also a gift. Like, I was in the best possible circumstances with true masters of their craft by my side and I felt very lucky.
Allen White’s comment on the second curiosity is instead very sibylline. A simple: “We did something like that.“
