A Saturday with a bitter aftertaste in Portimao for Andrea Iannone. The Maniac was forced to raise the white flag in Race 1, following a fall. In turn 1, the front end closing cost the Go Eleven rider dearly, thus ending his comeback.
While on one hand there is disappointment, on the other the Vasto rider tries to see the glass half full: “In qualifying we were unable to get a good lap – he said – the Superpole and Race 1 were however useful to start having some references”.
Too bad his comeback ended early: “Despite the complexity of the track, I was having fun during the race and our pace was decent, too bad about the crash. We are definitely missing something to get to the podium level. Tomorrow we will try to do our best, hoping to recover some positions from the beginning”.
