Hardly any other club is as active on the transfer market as Chelsea FC. This summer, the Blues have already signed eight players. The result: the London squad is massively bloated and the club is trying to get rid of some players with no prospects. On the cut list are transfer insiders Fabrizio Romano according to: Trevoh Chalobah, David Fofana, Armando Broja and the most prominent name on the list, Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku returned to Chelsea in 2021, having already played at Stamford Bridge between 2011 and 2013. He was supposed to make the then reigning Champions League winners even stronger offensively, but the plan did not work out, scoring 8 goals in a total of 26 Premier League appearances. In January 2022, he made negative headlines by publicly criticizing coach Thomas Tuchel. After just one season, he returned to Inter Milan on loan.
The Belgian had previously spent two very successful years with the Nerazzurri, winning the Scudetto in 2021, among other things. During his second stint at the San Siro, he scored ten goals and assisted six in 25 Serie A games, but it was over after one season. Another loan to Italy, to AS Roma, followed.
He scored 13 goals in 32 Serie A appearances for the Italian capital club, but will not stay in Rome long-term. Instead, Lukaku will play for his third Serie A club next season. According to Fabrizio Romano, he has agreed a three-year contract with SSC Napoli.
The Neapolitans and Chelsea FC still have to agree on a transfer fee. However, as the Blues want to get rid of Lukaku, this should not be a hurdle. However, it remains to be seen where Chalobah, Fofana and Broja will go.
