Ferdi Kadioglu has been rumored for months in the transfer market as a potential departure from his club Fenerbahce Istanbul. Bundesliga clubs have also repeatedly appeared as possible buyers for the highly talented left-back, including Bayern Munich, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund. But now the 24-year-old seems to be moving to the English Premier League.
Kadioglu’s move to Brighton & Hove Albion seems to have gained momentum. Sky transfer expert Florian Plettenberg said in the transfer update on Friday evening that Kadioglu and Brighton were “not just loose talks” but “there are concrete negotiations going on” between coach Fabian Hürzeler’s new club and Kadioglu’s club Fenerbahce.
The player himself apparently wants to take the step into the Premier League and, according to Plettenberg, is “really keen” on the adventure in England. Hürzeler also “absolutely wants to sign” Kadioglu, according to Plettenberg. Fener’s transfer fee is said to be 35 million euros. The left-back’s current market value is 30 million euros. Kadioglu, who was born in the Netherlands and trained at NEC Nijmegen, has been playing for Fenerbahçe since the summer of 2018 and has since played over 200 competitive matches for the traditional Turkish club. Kadioglu has played 20 times for the Turkish national team and was also in Turkey’s European Championship squad.
