The DC Universe is currently in the midst of Absolute Power, an event that’s unfolding during these summer months and promises to change the rules of the game forever. However, DC has had some pretty crazy editorial initiatives throughout this year that can’t be overlooked. The crossover seen in the three-part Justice League x Jurassic League storyline is arguably the best crossover to be seen in 2024.
This unique crossover transformed iconic DC heroes into amazing dinosaurs
However, given the significant impact of Absolute Power and its implications on DC, you may not even be aware of the existence of this surreal crossover. This story, which focuses on a world plagued by dinosaurs in which DC’s most important heroes must survive, stands out as one of the most incredible events in the comics industry during 2024.
This story, which was created by Mark Russell and Jon Mikel, focuses on Booster Gold going through a series of time-travel adventures alongside the Justice League and their dinosaur counterparts. Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman are sent 65 million years into the past, where they meet Wonderdon, Batsaur, and Supersaur for the first time. Yes, it sounds very strange, but I assure you that it works.
Seeing the most important members of the Trinity alongside their dinosaur counterparts is something that really stands out. Not only does it make for an epic image to remember, but the heroes will always be aware that they met dinosaur versions of themselves. However, what really makes this crossover so special is the emotional impact their brief connection has. Although the team’s union lasted only a quarter of the comic’s run, the story features several moments that pay homage to DC.
Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman were forced to join forces with the Jurassic League to prevent the consequences of the asteroid responsible for the mass extinction of the dinosaurs, but their efforts were marred by a sense of futility. The heroes fought against all odds, fully aware that their actions could only delay what was already destined to happen.
The worst thing about the comic series was its length, as many readers were left wanting to see much more of this crazy version of the Justice League turned into dinosaurs.
Jurassic League #1 comic is now available.
