Notice: Spoilers for Deadpool and Wolverine
Deadpool and Wolverine has left us with an infinite number of scenes that have entered the collective imagination of many, but without a doubt, the one that people will remember the most in the coming years will be the hilarious opening credits sequence that left more than one person speechless.
The scene is a clear statement of intent from Ryan Reynolds and the production team, but it seems that it wasn’t easy to come up with this idea. In an interview with the American media Collider, Shawn Levy He admitted that he felt a lot of fear when planning this opening sequence, as he wanted to surpass what was seen in the previous two installments.
“Nothing terrified me more, Ryan. I’ll admit that to you now. No aspect of this movie. Because Deadpool 1 and 2 are incredible and the bar was set so high, but no aspect of that high bar scared me more than the title sequences because they’re both so good. I remember spending sleepless nights thinking, ‘How do we ever meet that bar? How do we even have a chance of surpassing it? ‘ And that’s why the reaction to the title sequence is so meaningful to me.”
The introductions of the first two films Deadpool were nearly perfect, so Levy didn’t want to disappoint fans of The Merc with a Mouth. Fortunately, he managed to exceed expectations, and left us with one of the best opening sequences seen in a superhero movie.
The combination of blood, violence, and especially the use of NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye, has caused millions of people to hum the catchy song non-stop. It has even made it onto the charts of the most listened to songs of the last week, along with other hits that appeared in the film, such as Madonna’s Like a Prayer or Green Day’s Good Riddance.
