Netflix plans to make a big hit next year with a series of highly anticipated productions. One of them is Miércoles, which, after a tremendously successful first season, is already filming its new episodes with an eye to 2025. Jenna Ortega will once again star in this series, which is equally disturbing and funny, although it was not easy to convince her to join the project.
Through an interview with the American media Vanity Fair, Ortega explains that, at first, he had no intention of accepting the role of Wednesday for Netflix, but a heart-to-heart with director Tim Burton caused the Californian actress to change her mind shortly after.
“At first, I wasn’t entirely convinced about accepting the role. Burton’s frankness during the call made me want it even more. Burton got into my head,” Ortega said, explaining that the director’s naturalness, along with his insistence, led her to give the go-ahead to participate in the project.
The second season of Wednesday is looking to break all kinds of records again, and to do so, it will adopt a very different approach to the first installment. As Ortega explained in the same interview, the new episodes will be more focused on terror and less on humor, although he assures that it will not be a succession of blood, horror and decapitations, but will lean towards the disturbing and gloomy, characteristics of the Addams family.
