The success of Baldur’s Gate 3 is one that makes history, as the RFantasy PG has surpassed 15 million copies sold since its release in 2023. The developer has shared a wealth of interesting details about the adventure, revealing that there is a particular fondness for romance in Shadowheart. Shar’s loyal servant has been kissed 27 million times, for example, while only 7% of the community decided to start a game with a character with an established origin.
That is precisely the path to take to contemplate an ending so, so strange, that only 34 people on the entire planet have seen it. It is the one that consists of Lae’zel, being used as the main avatar, commits suicide at the end of his journey. According to GamesRadar+, this path should be activated by accepting the goddess Vlaakith’s plan to kill Orpheus.
That objective must remain open for hours, but it must be rejected at the last moment and Orpheus’ life must be spared. On the return to Vlaakith’s chamber, she will not allow us to ascend for not having fulfilled our task, so we must make the decision for Lae’zel to commit suicide. “You read that right,” Larian Studios says, as they are aware of the strangeness of this ending.
The truth is that not even the method proposed by the medium necessarily has to be the exact one to see the end, since there are Over 17,000 different variations in Baldur’s Gate 3. Also, this endgame appears to have been added in January with a patch, which lowers the likelihood of anyone triggering it. In any case, it’s still a ridiculous number of players compared to the total mass of people who own the game.
