Adrian Huertas is playing a leading role in the SSP World Championship. Aruba strongly wanted him last season, when the Spaniard was riding the MTM Kawasaki. A talented young man, but above all with a lot of perspective, so much so that they signed him to a two-year agreement, that is, until 2026.
So far the Iberian is dominating the scene to the point of boasting a 46-point advantage over Montella, the first of his pursuers in the Championship. Huertas therefore seems to be on his way to winning the title but a big question mark hangs over his future.
Yes, because in case of winning the World Championship, his contract includes the option to jump to Superbike. Yes, but with which team? Let’s try to understand the scenarios.
First of all, it must be said that, if Aruba had wanted to support the entire operation, the first choice could have been Motocorsa. Lorenzo Mauri’s team had in fact set its sights on the Spaniard, but unfortunately it was not possible to overcome the obstacle.
That said, Aruba would also be willing to place Huertas in a satellite team, as long as the latter takes charge of management and more. The problem is that at the moment the independent Ducati teams are practically all full. One hypothesis could therefore be Go Eleven, if Iannone had been promoted to the factory team, but this will not happen.
The second scenario, already evaluated in recent weeks by the team led by Cecconi, could be to field a third Superbike managed by the current SSP team. An option that recalls 2018, when Michael Rinaldi participated in the SBK World Championship but only competed in the European rounds alongside Davies and Melandri.
Well, this could be a sensational and at the same time suggestive hypothesis, with Stefano Cecconi who would bring a third Panigale V4 to the track. However, we need to understand whether the pieces can fit together or not.
Finally, the last scenario is that Huertas continues another season in SSP or decides to sensationally break his contract and find an alternative himself. However, we are not very convinced about this last option.
The fact is that in addition to the renewal of Bautista, there is also the issue related to the young protégé on whom Aruba bet a year ago.
