An exception is planned for Thursday, the day in which the weekly market is held in Piazza Mafalda di Savoia. On this day, the minibus will not stop in the square, but will depart exclusively from the Autolinea.
Sabaudia, 7 August 2024 – Starting tomorrow, Thursday 8 August, and until Sunday 1 September, the center of Sabaudia will be connected to the seafront thanks to an experimental electric bus service. This initiative, promoted by the municipal administration and strongly supported by the mayor Mosca and the deputy mayor and tourism councilor Giovanni Secci, aims to contribute to decongesting traffic on the seafront and to facilitate access to the beaches for beach lovers.
The idea is to offer a practical and sustainable solution to parking problems, allowing visitors to leave their cars parked in the centre and easily reach the sea without the stress of having to find a parking space near the beaches.
The service is completely free and will be active every day with regular trips from Piazza Mafalda di Savoia and from the Autolinea. The bus will leave every hour, from 9:00 to midday and will resume in the afternoon from 17:00 to 19:00. The stops will be located along the stretch of the seafront between Caterattino (stopping at all the consortia and accommodation facilities located along the route) and the Hotel Le Dune, allowing easy access to the main beach establishments. The electric minibus, also approved for the disabled, is very comfortable not only for the able-bodied and disabled but also for boarding strollers and prams for infants.
An exception is planned for Thursday, the day on which the weekly market is held in Piazza Mafalda di Savoia. On this day, the minibus will not stop in the square, but will depart exclusively from the Autolinea.
The initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration with the company Tecnobus Industries Srl, which provided the vehicle free of charge to the Municipality of Sabaudia, and the company Riccardo Bianchi, manager of the local public transport service, which provided the personnel necessary for the operation of the service.
“With this initiative, the municipal administration of Sabaudia aims to promote a more responsible and environmentally friendly tourism model, reducing the impact of traffic and improving the accessibility of its beaches”. These are the words of the mayor Alberto Mosca.
“On behalf of myself and the entire Administration, I would like to thank the company Tecnobus Industries Srl for their support, as well as the company Riccardo Bianchi for their valuable collaboration. This experimental service represents an important step towards more sustainable mobility and towards an improvement in the quality of life for both residents and tourists”. This is what Giovanni Secci, deputy mayor and councilor for tourism, said during the presentation press conference.
