Rome – The National Board of the Italian Paralympic Committee last July 24th approved the names of the Delegation that will take part in the XVII edition of the Summer Paralympic Games, scheduled in Paris from August 28 to September 8, 2024.
Italy will present itself at the meeting with theThe largest team ever composed of 141 athletes who will compete in 17 disciplines: athletics, badminton, canoeing, rowing, cycling, horse riding, judo, swimming, fencing, sitting volleyball, weightlifting, taekwondo, wheelchair tennis, table tennis, shooting, archery, triathlon. A list that underwent a final modification last Monday, August 5, with the inclusion in the Delegation of a judo athlete, following the assignment of a further pass by the international bipartisan commission.
The Italian team that will participate in the Paris Games, led by Head of Mission Juri Stara and captained by the two flag bearers Ambra Sabatini (athletics) and Luca Mazzone (cycling), is formed, specifically, by 70 athletes and 71 male athletes with an average age of 33.5 years. The beginners will be 52, about 37% of the Italian team. The youngest athlete is Giuliana Chiara Filippi (athletics), born in 2005.
Italy’s latest participation in the Summer Paralympic Games marked the best result of the modern era, with 69 medals won and the ninth place in the medal table.
