Kymco has unveiled in Taiwan the prototype (which seems ready for series production!) of a new adventure “scooter”, the CV-R5. We wrote “scooter” in quotation marks because at first glance, even from the front, this vehicle is very similar to a motorbike: taut lines, high windshield, full fairing. But in reality, it is really a scooter, with its large footrests and the space between the rider’s seat and the handlebars. In any case, the CV-R5 presents itself with a desire for adventure: wide handlebars, raised exhaust and semi-knobby tyres.
A new engine powers the scooter, but there is still little information available. Only a couple of figures have been released: 427 cc of displacement and 40.2 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. It is still unclear, however, whether it is an updated unit of their 400 cc single-cylinder or whether it is a new, small, twin-cylinder. As standard, in addition to ABS, traction control, cruise control, color TFT instrumentation and Full LED lighting system. We then find an upside-down fork and a double-sided rear swingarm with central monoshock. As for the brakes: double front disc and single rear disc. The final transmission is chain.
At the moment there are no official communications regarding its arrival on the market, but rumors coming from the East say that we could see the CV-R5 already at the next edition of Eicma.
