The causes of the malfunction are currently unknown.
Fiumicino, 7 August 2024 – On 4 August 2024, a Bombardier C-Series CS-300 of ITA Italia Trasporto Aereo, registered EI-HHI, in flight AZ-1380 from Genoa to Rome Fiumicino, was taking off from runway 10 in Genoa when passengers saw one of the engines (PW1524G) emitting smoke, prompting the crew to abort climb to approximately FL140 and return to Genoa for a safe landing on runway 28 approximately 20 minutes after departureafter making a series of laps to unload the fuel. The passengers were taken to Milan Linate by bus and from there flew to Rome. The plane, notes Giovanni D’Agata president of the “Sportello dei Diritti”, is still on the ground in Genoa about 37.5 hours after the return landing. At the moment the causes of the malfunction are unknown.
