While Activision is avoiding spoilers, it continues to offer new details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the new installment of the shooter that will be released this year. This time, it has offered quite a bit of information about the story of the promising zombies mode, whose story will be set two years after the timeline explored by the mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
In this new story, after combating undead outbreaks across the world, the CIA’s Requiem team manages to close the last dimensional portal and banish its inhabitants to the Dark Aether. This success came at a high price, as agent Samantha Maxis sacrificed herself to seal the dimension from within. Additionally, Requiem’s top officials were arrested on orders of project director Edward Richtofen.
Black Ops 6’s new Zombies mode will be set more than half a decade later, continuing the Dark Aether story and exploring Richtofen’s motivations. The story trailer reveals that former members of Requiem, including Grigori Weaver, Mackenzie “Mac” Carver, Elizabeth Grey, Oskar Strauss, and Stoney Maddox (Raptor One), have been imprisoned in an outpost known as Terminus. For over five years, they have undergone significant changes both physically and mentally due to their imprisonment.
The plot takes an explosive turn when Maya Aguinaldo, a young Filipino smuggler, arrives on the island with her own plans and accompanied by the detestable Dr. William Peck. Her arrival coincides with an outbreak at Terminus, which increases suspicions. At the same time, the town of Liberty Falls in West Virginia faces its own zombie attack. Despite their differences, the characters must unite to survive the new incursions of the dark ether.
