Ichigo is a different protagonist because of this reason.
It’s no secret that Ichigo is a different protagonist, and this is due to one reason in particular: his normal life.

Bleach is one of the best Shonen of all time. At one time, it was part of the “big three”, along with One Piece and Naruto. This means, among many other things, that Ichigo Kurosaki is a fairly classic protagonist, as he belongs to that era and has his major differences with respect to the current demographic archetypes.
Obviously, for Ichigo to become the kind of protagonist he is today, he has had to mature and grow in different aspects. This has been, in large part, thanks to his family. As well as his origin, since he does not share the classic trope of an orphan protagonist or one who searches for his parents.
There are many differences between Ichigo and other Shonen characters. But there is one detail that stands out above the rest and we will tell you about it in the following lines.
Ichigo is a unique protagonist, thanks to the influence of his family
It’s no secret that there’s a fairly common trope in Shonen that involves having protagonists who are orphans, or who are searching for their parents. There are hundreds of examples in the industry. Therefore, main characters like Ichigo stand out because they’re quite different.
Something that is not often appreciated or acknowledged is that the past or life experience of the characters defines what kind of protagonist they can be. Although we also have examples like Naruto who, having everything to be a villain, never gave up on his dreams of being recognized in his village and becoming Hokage.
As for Ichigo, it’s important to note that he’s a different protagonist, and there’s a big reason for that. It’s about his family and their influence on his life, which makes perfect sense.
As we mentioned at the beginning, unlike other Shonen protagonists, Ichigo grew up and has had a fairly normal life with his father and sisters. Although he lost his mother when he was only 9 years old. But the rest of his family has not abandoned him, as they have always been present and by his side.
It is important to note that this family upbringing has allowed him to develop a particular type of personality, as he has specific values and has led him to be a special protagonist.
Since we met Ichigo’s character, we can see that he has always been protective of all his loved ones. This is a quality he has because he is an older brother and must protect his beloved sisters from spirits and other problems that may arise.
And it is precisely this protective attitude that leads us to think that he would probably never have decided to become a Soul Reaper if his sisters had not been in danger. But this is speculation.
But that’s not all, because, due to his relationship with his father, who attacked him by surprise, he indirectly taught him to stay alert at all times. Not to mention that his family has also been related to the main plot, since his father was a Soul Reaper.
Ultimately, the type of character and protagonist that Ichigo is is directly related to his origins. And it is because of his family ties, both his sisters and his father, that he has developed a protective attitude and is always alert to protect himself from danger. This is a great advantage that not all protagonists have, especially those who maintain the trope of being orphans.
It’s a good thing that Ichigo stands out above many other protagonists in the industry and it’s precisely because he had a fairly traditional life and learned many important values that he has implemented along the way. All this and more makes him a very beloved protagonist.
