Zack Snyder has been getting a lot of bad news over the past few days. After seeing the director’s versions of Rebel Moon plummet in ratings since their release, Netflix has now decided to do away with another of its franchises altogether: Army of the Dead.
According to an exclusive report by the American media The Wrap a few hours ago, the platform streaming The world’s biggest movie studio has scrapped all projects related to this universe that Snyder intended to expand after the release of the first film in 2021.
Thus, Netflix has cancelled two of the projects that the director had planned to launch in the future: the animated spin-off series Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas and the sequel to the first film, Planet of the Deadannounced less than a year ago by Snyder himself. Until now, only one prequel had been released, Army of Thieves, but it suffered the same fate as Snyder’s other projects.
It seems that Netflix is gradually getting rid of the director’s services. After his controversial departure from DC Studios several years ago, Snyder tried his luck with the company streaming in a highly publicized deal, resulting in a series of films that have not performed well, both in views and reviews.
