To prevent further incidents involving Boeing aircraft, American aircraft manufacturer Boeing is going to adjust its designs. These plans were discussed during a two-day hearing with Boeing executives.
Earlier this year, an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 lost a door during a flight. It was later discovered that four bolts were missing from the door panel.
Since then, several incidents involving the manufacturer’s aircraft have been reported worldwide.
Yesterday, Boeing executive Elizabeth Lund outlined her plans to change the designs during a National Transportation Safety Board hearing in Washington.
Lund hopes to have the design changes implemented within a year, after which she plans to adapt all the different devices.
High pressure
During the same hearing, the aircraft manufacturers of the plane that lost its door panel were questioned about safety issues and what they could mean for Boeing passengers. They said they have to work under high pressure and at high speed. As a result, mistakes are unavoidable, CNN reports on the case.
Boeing’s image and reputation have been severely damaged since the incident. Aircraft were grounded and Boeing was not allowed to expand its production by the American aviation authority FAA.
A criminal investigation also followed and several key executives resigned.
