Jaehaerys Targaryen, son of Aegon II and his heir at just six years old, was one of the first victims of the second season, in the very first episode. In a revenge plot orchestrated by Daemon Targaryen, two assassins, Blood and Cheese, invaded the royal chambers and forced Helaena, Aegon’s wife and sister, to choose which of her sons should die. Unfortunately, Jaehaerys ended up being the victim, resulting in one of the most shocking and tragic moments of the season.
Blood e Cheese
Blood and Cheese, Jaehaerys’s assassins, met their ends in brutal fashion after completing their mission in episode 2. Blood was captured while trying to flee King’s Landing with Jaehaerys’s head and was beaten to death by Aegon II. Cheese, a ratcatcher, remained in hiding but was captured and hanged along with other ratcatchers from King’s Landing, showing Aegon’s fierce retaliation.
Erryk and Arryk Cargyll
Twins Erryk and Arryk Cargyll, who served on opposite sides of the war, also met a tragic fate in episode 2. Erryk remained loyal to Rhaenyra, while Arryk sided with Aegon II. On a mission to assassinate Rhaenyra, Arryk was confronted by his brother, resulting in a deadly fight between the twins. Erryk killed Arryk, but, devastated by the act, took his own life shortly thereafter.

Rhaenys Targaryen, known as the Queen Who Never Was, was an ally of Rhaenyra and a powerful character. She met her end in episode 4 during an aerial battle when her dragon, Meleys, was mortally wounded by Aemond and Aegon Targaryen. Both fell to their supposed deaths (Aegon survived), and Rhaenys shared a sad moment with her dragon before it fell, marking a significant loss in the series.
Lord Gunthor Darklyn
The death of Lord Gunthor Darklyn, head of House Darklyn, occurred due to his refusal to kneel before Aegon II after a battle in House of the Dragon. For his resistance, he was beheaded by Criston Cole, who became notorious for his cruelty. Gunthor’s death, which occurred in episode 4, symbolized the brutal repression faced by those who opposed the new regime.
Aeron Bracken
Aeron Bracken, leader of House Bracken, died at the Battle of the Burning Mill, a conflict between Houses Blackwood and Bracken, in episode 3. This battle reflected divided loyalties and ancient rivalries, resulting in a deadly confrontation where Aeron met his end.
Davos Blackwood
Davos Blackwood, leader of House Blackwood, also died at the Battle of the Burning Mill in episode 3. Like Aeron Bracken, his death symbolized the bloody cost of inter-house rivalries and the devastation caused by the civil war.
Steffon Darklyn
Steffon Darklyn, a member of House Darklyn, met his end in episode 4 when he attempted to claim a dragon to ride, following an ancestral Targaryen line. Unfortunately, the dragon Seasmoke released a flame and incinerated Steffon and an unnamed dragon keeper, showing the dangers of tangling with dragons.
Willem Blackwood

He launched a brutal campaign against House Bracken, spurred on by Daemon Targaryen. The Riverlords demanded justice for the violence, which resulted in Willem’s execution by Daemon. His death was a great loss to both Daemon and House Blackwood, further highlighting the tragic consequences of inter-house feuds.
