The finale of the hit horror event Blood Hunt contained revelations that touched on the immediate future of the Marvel Universe, but perhaps the most shocking development was that Miles Morales will still be a vampire moving forward. While most readers expected Miles Morales’ monstrous transformation to be reversed at the conclusion of the comic series, it seems things won’t be that simple for the young Spider-Man who has starred in his own Sony animated films.
Miles Morales Gets a Major Update as Spider-Man in Marvel Comics
Blood Hunt #5 appears to wrap up the storyline with the shocking revelation that Miles Morales will still be a vampire, as Dracula tells Spider-Man that the blood of the first vampire Varnae still runs through his veins. While Miles Morales’ terrifying transformation was vitally important to saving the world in Blood Hunt, it’s still a pretty shocking development for the character.
Miles Morales’ bloodlust was brought under control fairly quickly, but he may have trouble keeping his cool as he deals with his new status quo as a vampire in the pages of Marvel Comics.
In that regard, Miles Morales helped defeat a possessed Blade at the end of Blood Hunt, but his time as a vampire seems far from over. In fact, it only seems to be beginning. When it was revealed that Miles Morales had transformed into a bloodthirsty monster who attacked the Avengers, it took the combined might of Doctor Strange and Clea to help him regain some of his consciousness.
After being bitten by Varnae, Spider-Man’s vampiric evolution became an essential piece as part of the development of Blood Hunt. Earlier in his solo series, Miles Morales already reunited with Blade and his daughter Bloodline to stop another vampire who resurfaced during the course of the crossover event. In fact, the connection between Spider-Man and Bloodline was instrumental in the success of Marvel’s core heroes during Blood Hunt.
It’s also not ruled out that Miles Morales’ vampire status could be permanent, or at least stick around for a long time like other characters have in the past. However, Miles Morales will have to keep his bloodlust under control in order to remain the iconic hero he has been to this day. Remaining a vampire Spider-Man could be a completely new change of scenery for him, but it could also have catastrophic effects on Miles Morales in the Marvel Universe that are yet to be discovered.
Blood Hunt #5 comic is now available.
