For a long time, Dean Huijsen was linked with a transfer to the Bundesliga. BVB, VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart in particular were considered to be interested in the 19-year-old central defender. There were also rumours of interest from Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern.
As expected, Huijsen is now moving to the UK instead of the German top flight. AFC Bournemouth has struck and is reportedly paying a transfer fee of around 18 million euros to Juventus Turin. The Old Lady is also said to have secured a share in the resale.
Bournemouth did not provide any precise details about the length of the contract. In the official statement, the Cherries only spoke of a long-term contract.
The 19-year-old was loaned from Juve to AS Roma in the second half of the season. Huijsen was able to play his way into the spotlight at the Giallorossi. However, Juventus no longer planned to use the homegrown player, who moved from FC Malaga’s youth team to Turin in 2021.
The Amsterdam-born Spanish U21 international said goodbye to Juventus via Instagram post. “At 16, I arrived here with a heart full of hope and emotion, with the dream of one day wearing the first team jersey. I met a great club and great people who helped me on my journey and I will always be grateful for all of that,” wrote Huijsen.
