I wasn’t entirely sure, but fortunately the live-action One Piece produced by Netflix became a viewing success and an adaptation that managed to convince fans of Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga, which has frequently been pointed out as one of the best shonens in history and a work of a quality that will rarely be seen again in this genre.
The live-action series, which featured an excellent cast led by Iñaki Godoy and Emily Rudd, was positioned as one of the best series that the platform released last year. The confirmation of its second season was highly celebrated news by fans and actress Jamie Lee Curtis expressed on more than one occasion her desire to play Dr. Kureha, a request that received immense support on social media. Unfortunately, it has been officially confirmed that Curtis will not be in the live-action series.
Jamie Lee Curtis will not play Dr. Kureha in One Piece season 2
According to Deadline, Becky Clements, president of Tomorrow Studios, confirmed that Jamie Lee Curtis will not play Dr. Kureha nor will she be part of the second season of the highly anticipated live-action series.
Clements clarified that Curtis was excited to play the character, but ultimately will not be able to participate in the series due to scheduling conflicts: “She loves the show. She has too many movies and TV shows in production, so our schedules don’t match up. She definitely wanted to do it, but she has deals in first place and it’s gotten complicated.”
It is worth remembering at this point that Curtis won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress last year for her role in the film ‘Everything at Once, Everywhere’ and that she has had a long and notable career as an actress for some time, so the reason for her unavailability is not surprising.
Jamie Lee Curtis has expressed her love for One Piece on numerous occasions. On her official X account, she went so far as to express her enthusiasm for the 2016 film ‘One Piece Film: Gold’ and confirmed that her favorite character is Tony Tony Chopper.
