New screenshots have been leaked for Sonic x Shadow Generations, the long-awaited remaster of the 2011 game, which will strike a chord with fans with a hidden aspect.
The next game of Sonic the Hedgehog will hit stores on October 25, 2024, a couple of months before the premiere of Sonic 3: The Movie in theaters. Both products will have one thing in common: the return of Shadow the Hedgehog.
The dark hedgehog has not appeared in the series’ games for a few years (since Sonic Forces), skipping recent installments such as Sonic Origins, Sonic Frontiers and Sonic Superstars.
Sega has opted for give Shadow a bigger role in 2024and twice over. Sonic’s nemesis hedgehog will be the main villain in the next film, voiced by Keanu Reeves, and will also appear in Sonic x Shadow Generations.
Sonic x Shadow Generations is a remaster of Sonic Generations, the acclaimed 2011 game that celebrated the blue hedgehog’s 20th anniversary. In addition to remastering the levels already present, it innovates with a campaign starring exclusively Shadow.
Thus, players will enjoy Shadow’s adventures in such memorable games as Sonic Adventure 2 (his debut game), Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog or Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).
Its collector’s edition has already been revealed, and there is even speculation that there could be a fourth playable character (maybe a classic version of Shadow).
A nod to nostalgia and new images
The Tails Channel Twitter/X account has leaked four new images from Sonic x Shadow Generations. Two of them belong to Shadow, specifically at the Silicon Valley level (from Sonic 2006), and the other two correspond to Sonic.
Silicon Valley looks spectacular, with our beloved Shadow hanging from the huge eagle (one of the most epic moments of this level), and some breathtaking landscapes in the background.
Also The official soundtrack, dedicated to Act 1 of Silicon Valley, has been leaked in the game. It’s not confirmed, but everything points to that being the case.
”This song has been spotted on Spotify with credits to Audissi Studio, a studio owned by Richard Jaques, who has previous Sonic OST credits on games such as Team Sonic Racing”, mentions the tweet published by Tails Channel.
The big surprise is in the two images of Sonic. We see the hedgehog a little changed, with a 3D look from the late 90s… which It is based on Sonic Adventure.
What has delighted fans is that It’s a skin taken from the original Dreamcast game. (the 1998 version), and does not correspond to the updated model that we saw in Sonic Adventure DX (Gamecube and PC).
