Second GP for Gardner in MotoGP in 2024
The British Grand Prix will be held on the first weekend of August, and Yamaha has announced that Cal Crutchlow will not be able to participate. The former rider and now test rider has a hand injury that will prevent him from taking part in the “home” event, and his place will be taken by Remy Gardner. The choice fell on the Australian who rode the M1 in the previous German GP as a replacement for Alex Rins.

The physical conditions of the English
Crutchlow explained: “Unfortunately I won’t be able to take part in the British round as a wildcard this year. I had surgery on my hand two months ago and the recovery didn’t go as planned, resulting in a further operation and complications.” The priority now is of a physical nature: “It’s important that my hand heals completely before I attempt to ride a MotoGP bike. I’m looking forward to getting back in action as soon as possible and continuing our project to improve the current package and next year’s. I wish Remy all the best and hope he has a great time. He has experience on a MotoGP bike and rode the Yamaha in the last Grand Prix, so it’s the perfect situation for him to get back on the bike again.”
“I like Silverstone, I hope to give important feedback”
Gardner, GRT Yamaha Superbike rider, said: “First of all, I want to wish Cal a speedy recovery. We met last week and I hope he can get back on the bike soon to contribute to the MotoGP project. Obviously, getting back on the M1 is a great opportunity, I’m really happy. Silverstone is a track I like and I hope to be able to give some important feedback to Yamaha and the team. Thanks to everyone at Yamaha, I can’t wait to race again!”
