He is taking his time to fuel the conflict! House of the Dragon 2×06 written by Eileen Shim and directed by Andrew Parekh comes to Max with the intention of keeping us hooked once again, although the chronicle character of the book has become too attached to it and it is not showing us the battles, as we expected.
The series is characterized by a very slow pace (sometimes too slow), but above all by the fact that we are not taken to the battles and instead revealing information with the weak resource of the ravens that arrive at Dragonstone. We are guided by the conversations of the characters, but there are so many that it is sometimes difficult to follow the thread.
Summary of House of the Dragon 2×06
The twin brother of Tyland Lannister Jason, continue gathering troops: your plan is to wipe out the people of the Riverlands and live up to the name of the Red Keep. Send a raven to King’s Landing to summon Aemond con Vhagaronly then will he attack Harrenhal, where he is located Daemon. When it reaches the hands of the regent, he becomes enraged.
Aemond tells Tyland that he has a mission for him: to forge an alliance with the Triarchy: He is fed up with the blockade imposed by the Velaryon fleet and wants to set them against the Sea Serpent. It is a risky move because they cannot be trusted and will be very close to King’s Landing, but Aemond insists.
As for Harrenhal, he wants to force Daemon to fight on two different fronts in order to weaken his forces. Aemond promises to fly there on his dragons at the right time and face his uncle if he dares to challenge him.
When the Green Council withdraws, Aemond tells Alicent to stay and tell her that she doesn’t need her and that she should go back to her household chores.
On Dragonstone Corlys studies the map as he joins the Black Council as Hand of Rhaenyra. They welcome Sir Steffon Darklyn to whom she tells of her delicate position. Rhaenyra has lost Rhaenys and Meleys, she has no army on land and she herself cannot enter into combat because if she were captured or defeated all would be lost.
He tells her that he has Daemon and Caraxes left besides the rivermen, but she doesn’t trust that. She tells him that she needs riders to Vemithor, Ala de Payment y HoarShe asks him to try because they have blood ties.
He feels honored but overwhelmed by the situation to the extent that he feels like he is just a man, while dragons are gods. He kneels before her and tells her that he will honor his promise of loyalty by trying.
Daemon is still trapped in his hallucinations: he imagines Viserys On the Iron Throne, he tells him if he still thinks of himself as “heir for a day.” And that it hurts him that he laughed at him. He exiles him from the kingdom but he is dying on the throne. When he tries to leave the room, the door is closed. Viserys takes off his crown.
Simon Strong He opens the door, worried about his health, thinking he’s not getting enough sleep. Damon threatens him with a dagger and paranoid delusions: he thinks he might be in cahoots with Rhaenyra.
Daemon decides to leave and meets Alys RiosShe tells him that what haunts him is the ghost of Black Harren from the King’s Pyre Tower. And that he has quite a track record behind him: Dragonstone, the Stepstones, Pests, Harrenhal… Alys also reminds him that there are things older than them in the world and that he is not a player but just another piece on the game board.
He believes that the crown is not a trophy and that Rhaenyra, like Viserys, did not want the crown, perhaps that is why she was chosen for the post. Daemon asks Alys for help: she tells him not to do anything, that the wind will change in three days.
Steffon Darklyn is brought before Hoarwho gives way to him: with great care he approaches with the intention of mounting. But at the last moment he burns him with his flames and he slits his neck to try to end his suffering, in vain.

Larys She applies to be Hand of Aemond but he sees her intentions and orders to bring back Ottoin whom he trusts. Aegon He slowly begins to improve: he regains consciousness and breathes on his own. Aemond goes to see his brother and orders him to be left alone with him. Aegon tells him that he doesn’t remember anything. He presses on his wounds to make sure that he will continue with this story.
Rhaena stumbles upon the dragonfire-ravaged lands near the Eyrie. She receives word that she will be welcomed with the children of Pentos, but she can’t stop thinking about the wild dragon in the area looking for food: Mist, who escapes after charring her would-be rider.
I will add y AlynCorlys’ two illegitimate sons, talk about the possibility of being recognized, something that seems remote to them.
Rhaenyra continues to search for a solution to her situation. Jace He told him that he was bold, even if it didn’t work out. But he also said that he was the talk of the castle for slapping Bartimos in front of the Royal Guard.
He tells her that they need Daemon and Caraxes. Mysaria goes to see her and tells her that the gift has been sent. She is referring to the Rhaneyra ships, which arrive on the coast of King’s Landing loaded with food and marked with the banner of their house.
Alicent She looks worriedly at Aegon. He was supposed to have gotten better, but the maester tells him it will be a miracle if he lives. He asks about the letters sent to his father in Highgarden and Oldtown and all the noble houses in the Reach, but there is no reply from Otto. In fact, the war with the Baesbury taking up arms against the Hightower in revenge for the death of his lord.
Alicent is going to talk to her brother Gwaynein case he knows anything about his father. He also asks him about his son Daeron to find out what he’s like. She tells him that he’s 16 years old and that it’s normal that he doesn’t answer her letters. That he’s loyal, cunning, capable with the lute and the sword and handsome too: a good boy.
Kindness is not part of his brothers’ qualities. He says goodbye because he has to leave with Christ is the one again.
The people of King’s Landing come out in droves to get the food Rhaenyra has sent. The royal guard goes to protect Alicent and Helaena who are in the temple. The mob is angry and the guard is brutal: they cut off a man’s hand and the people rush at them. They manage to get them into the cart but they hear them cheering for Rhaenyra. Alicent is even wounded in the drake.
Aegon He abuses the potion that takes away his pain, but clouds his mind. Larys He goes to see him and tells him that he will never be whole again, nor will he be able to run, and that he has to preserve his mind, which is what he has left, as happened to him when he was born with clubfoot.
He tells him that they will look at him, look away and underestimate him, which will give him the advantage. He also tells him that his life is in danger now that his brother reigns. Aegon asks for his help.
Daemon She consoles her brother, who is mourning the death of his wife. She apologizes for not being there for him when he needed her and tells him that she is with him now. It is another of her daydreams.

Mysaria tells him Rhaenyra that they have made a great advance. But she thinks she still needs Daemon. Carefree and dangerous, that is how she sees him and that is how she wants to be herself. He wanted to possess her but not for her to possess him, so she fears that he has betrayed her. She only has Syrax and two young dragons with whom she cannot defeat Vhagar and she has no army.
Mysaria reminds him that he has the fleet Velaryon and her crew. Rhaenyra doesn’t believe she can win, and if she does, she doesn’t even consider herself able to reign when not even her son trusts her.
Mysaria tells her that her father abused her and left her pregnant. When he found out, he almost killed her, leaving her alone because he thought she was dead and leaving her with the scar of not being able to be a mother. She promised herself not to trust any man, but she trusts herself and her ability to be queen.
Rhaneyra hugs her and they end up kissing. They are interrupted by a royal guard who tells them that Bruma has been seen in spice position with a rider, though he cannot tell her who from the ground. Rhaenyra rides Syrax and goes looking for him.
Daemon’s long examination of conscience
Bring back to Paddy Considine It was a good move, but the Harrenhal plot is dragging on. All of Daemon’s daydreams lead him to revisit the various times in his life when he failed: who he betrayed, disappointed, or left behind along the way.
But perhaps the most striking thing is that they all end the same way: with Simon Strong bringing him back. The process is already repetitive and stalls the pace of the episodes since the plot does not advance at that point. Daemon will end up losing his charisma if he remains stagnant.
The house of the dragon has to deal with a huge map and a very extensive gallery of characters: the scripts manage this multi-ring circus as best they can, but it always feels like, despite the slow pace, you have to do some homework to understand the plot and the strategies of each one.
The action is deliberately omitted in order to offer the series’ main distinguishing feature: the dragons. But the cost is too high when they only appear for a few brief moments.
The seventh episode needs to step up the pace. There is an incredible difference between an episode like the fourth and the next two, which are much slower. We need emotion, action and not to neglect the scrupulous and gradual evolution of the characters in the meantime..
