There is so much anger among citizens who are wondering why these fires cannot be stopped
Ardea, 20 July 2024 – Yet another fire in Ardea: on fire, Once again, piles of rubbish in via dei Monti di Santa Luciaon the border with the neighborhood New California. The Fire Brigade intervened on site. The fire broke out yesterday evening, in an area where an illegal landfill has been located for some time.
Fires of this type are now the order of the day, tall columns of smoke invade the air and, if there is also hazardous waste on fire, the situation becomes even more serious. Citizens’ patience has reached its limit: residents are angry and bitter. The president of the New California neighborhood committee, Piero D’Angelo, two weeks ago presented a protest document to be the spokesperson for this ongoing discomfort that is no longer tolerable. What the population is asking is: “Why can’t we block these fires?”. And Ardea increasingly seems like a “land of fires” where degradation and garbage invade the city.
