Prime Video has released a series of posters that give us a sneak peek of what could happen in the fifth and final season of The Boys, as Homelander plots his world domination
The end of the fourth season of The Boys is now available, and along with it, Prime Video has shared some posters that hint at the potentially catastrophic events that will unfold in season five. If you haven’t seen the season four finale yet, be aware that from here on out there are spoilers.
Billy Butcher on the edge
The fourth season did not end favorably for our heroes, far from it. Billy Butcher Butcher gave in to his dark side, personified by the late Joe Kessler, and ended up killing Victoria Neuman. While she deserved it for her history of skull explosions, this act set off a chain of unfortunate events. Butcher decided to go on his own crusade to eliminate all the Supes, leaving the rest of the team in dire straits.
Homelander, unopposed, captured all of the team members except Annie, and is now one step closer to achieving his goal of world domination.
Eric Kripke’s vision for season five
In an interview with LadBible.com, showrunner Eric Kripke offered some teasers about season five.
“The season four finale really shows that we’ve been planning this for five years, because there’s no way the show is going to continue for another season after the events of that finale. For us, it’s our version of the apocalypse.”
“I always look at it like, out of the five seasons, we’re at that point that’s the end of the second act of a movie, where everyone is at their lowest point and they’ve faced their own demons. Now, they need to come together in season five and save the world.”
Official synopsis for season 5
According to the official synopsis for season four: “The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Only months old, Butcher has lost Becca’s son and his position as leader of The Boys. The rest of the team is fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they must find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”
Season 5 will see the return of actors Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. New cast members also include Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
The first three episodes of the fourth season of The Boys will be available for streaming beginning June 13, with new episodes premiering weekly until the season finale on July 18.
