Luca Marini: vote 5
Only one point, often last at the finish line. So why 5? Because in HRC they continue to speak only well of Luca Marini, considered the best rider to carry forward the development. I know that some will not believe it, but this is what they say inside the box. The best Honda rider in the standings is Joan Mir, beyond the falls: for this he earns a passing grade.
Fabio Quartararo: vote 7
He has decided to trust Yamaha and never holds back, always making a clear difference with his teammate, who, for the moment, is not reaching the passing grade.
Maverick Vinales: vote 7.5
Two sprint victories, a spectacularly won GP, other negative races: in short, the usual Vinales. It is still his best season in Aprilia, the first where he is the point of reference, also because Aleix Espargaro seems to have given up a bit, especially on a psychological level: Aleix still deserves a six. Staying with Aprilia, but changing teams: 5.5 to Miguel Oliveira, back to excellent levels in Germany; 6 to Raul Fernandez, fast but still inconsistent.
Pedro Acosta: vote 8
His MotoGP debut was spectacular and even exciting, then he was a bit sucked back by KTM’s difficulties. He is still the point of reference for the Austrian manufacturer, even if Brad Binder (vote 5) is only 2 points behind. Full failure for the other two riders: 4 to Jack Miller and Augusto Fernandez.
Franco Morbidelli: rating 7.5
After 5 years with Yamaha, after skipping the winter tests, you couldn’t think that he would get on a Ducati and be immediately competitive. Step by step, however, he is finding the speed of his best times. I liked it.
Marco Bezzecchi: vote 5
In some ways, it is the disappointment of this first part of the season, because after having obtained three victories in 2023, much more was expected. But he struggles to understand the GP23, even if he still managed to bring home a podium. Let’s hope that the break can serve to start from scratch, especially on a mental level.
Fabio Di Giannantonio: rating 6.5
After Marquez, he is the one who has done best with the GP23: he has the speed and makes very few mistakes. He must improve in qualifying and, above all, in starts, which have been almost disastrous up to now. He confirms himself as a top-level rider.
Enea Bastianini: vote 7
Great improvement compared to last year, but not yet explosive like in 2022. In some circumstances – see overtaking Martin at Mugello – he has shown his great qualities, but the difference with his teammate has been clear so far.
Marc Marquez: vote 8
Exciting in some comebacks, incisive in many overtakings: it is true that with him there is more spectacle. However, there remains the limitation of not having won a GP yet, also due to some of his mistakes. With him, fans are always divided: there are those who say he is doing very well, those who criticize him. The numbers, the only ones that count, are on his side.
Jorge Martin: rating 8.5
He continues to convey the sense of pure speed, but three major mistakes weigh too much, including the last one in Germany, when he already had the race in hand. Treated very badly by Ducati, almost made fun of, he still shows great character. He can still fight for the title.
Pecco Bagnaia: vote 9
Clearly the strongest driver in the first part of the season, as confirmed by 6 GP wins out of 9: he is the one who makes the difference. He made only one real mistake, the one on the last lap in the sprint in Barcelona, while he was comfortably in the lead. He is a great world champion.
