Theft is one of the biggest problems affecting the world of bikes and even more so expensive e-bikes. So much so that it has also become a reason for “not buying”. That is, in order not to see it stolen one day, we are willing not to buy it. It seems paradoxical but the worry about theft has become a real deterrent for those who are about to buy, perhaps their first e-bike. Fortunately, we are starting to see initiatives that offer buyers greater guarantees. An example of this is the BIKE insurance offered by Pon.Bike Italia in collaboration with Generali and active from these days on the Focus and Kalkhoff brands distributed by the Veronese company.
Free theft insurance
This is an insurance product that immediately caught our attention, first of all because it is free. In fact, there are already similar proposals but not yet “included in the price” such as this policy from Pon.Bike Italia relating to the electric line up of the Focus and Kalkhoff brands. The aim is to reassure customers by allowing them to have a completely new bicycle in the event of theft even outdoors and during use. Furthermore, it offers Accident and Third Party Liability insurance coverage. The BIKE Insurance from Pon.Bike Italia is offered in combination with the purchase of a Focus (Squared) or Kalkhoff e-bike belonging to the 2024 line-up completely free of charge at the time of purchase at one of the participating Authorized Resellers.
How does it work and what does it cover?
As anticipated, it is included in the purchase and in particular in an offer that also includes the BBB chain. The duration of the coverage is 12 months and offers the replacement of the stolen e-bike with a new one if the bicycle is left unattended and tied with the BBB chain provided by the participating Authorized Dealer at the time of purchase of the new bicycle. A particularity compared to other coverage is that it is also valid for theft outdoors during use of the bicycle and not only indoors. The maximum value of the insured bicycle must not exceed 8,000 euros.
To activate it, you need to purchase a new Focus (Squared) or Kalkhoff e-bike from one of the participating Authorized dealers that can be consulted on the website ponbikeitalia.it.
