His lead in the revised standings has risen to 41 points. “El Turco” has dominated even more than he did in Misano, where he had also won three times. His eyes are shining.
“It’s an incredible feeling,” he bursts out with a big smile, “after winning all three races in Misano we’ve done a hat-trick again. This is a fantastic year for me and for BMW. It’s the new challenge and every race weekend we become better and stronger. The team is working more than 100% every round. With these premises, even before coming here I expected to win three more races, like we did in Italy.”
It’s never easy, but from the outside it seemed like it was a walk in the park for Toprak. He gave his opponents embarrassing gaps and no one was ever able to seriously challenge him.
“This is my favourite track and the bike performs incredibly well here. The strong points are especially the engine braking and the handling! It’s exactly what I need, a bike that stops well and with good acceleration. The grip is not fantastic but the M 1000 RR is really effective. This makes it easy to show my potential. Step by step with BMW we are getting to the title. I’m just thinking about the result race by race and getting more victories.”
It was a dream weekend but Toprak doesn’t take things lightly. He has a precise goal and in a week it starts again, the Superbike World Championship will move to the Czech Republic.
“It’s all good… but I need more! There are still a lot of races, but we don’t think about that. At the end of the season we’ll see. My goal every race weekend is to try to win three races, but it’s not easy. I love Most and it would probably be my favorite circuit, if it weren’t for Turn 2. I remember last year I crashed there. I hope it won’t happen the same with the BMW, but I’m fully focused on the next weekend. I feel positive about it. I hope we’ll find a good setup straight away and can fight for the win again.”
