Thanks to its popularity, it had multiple sequels and spin-offs. There is bad news, as it has been confirmed that fans will have to say goodbye to one of the most unique and memorable installments.
While the main titles in the Japanese franchise are 2D fighting games, some spin-offs explored different styles and formulas. Sadly, a popular free-to-play game for mobile devices has its days numbered and will be discontinued relatively soon.

The King of Fighters All Star will close its servers in October 2024
We’re talking about The King of Fighters All Star, a popular action RPG with gacha elements based on the SNK franchise. After its release in Japan and the West 6 years ago, it became one of the most beloved titles by fans thanks to its beautiful illustrations, its contributions to the lore and its large roster that includes both new and veteran characters.
However, fans will only have a few months to enjoy this spin-off. Through a statement, the Netmarble studio revealed that it will close the servers during the fall of 2024, which means that it will be impossible to access and play worldwide.
Specifically, the company confirmed that The King of Fighters All Star will cease operations starting October 30, 2024 in the West, while Japanese fans will be able to play it until October 31. As part of the server shutdown, the official website, social media, and other communication channels will also no longer be available.

In a statement, Netmarble apologized to fans and thanked them for their support and feedback over the nearly 6 years of activity. It also explained that, despite other possibilities being explored, in the end the difficult decision was made to close the game due to the challenges of balancing the large roster of fighters.
The developer studio confirmed that it has prepared an updated infographic that will allow fans to learn about the original story of The King of Fighters All Star. It also promised that it will do everything possible to avoid errors and inconveniences that ruin the experience during the last few months.

Thanks to constant updates, this spin-off developed by Netmarble brought together more than 200 characters, including some completely new and original ones, such as a female version of Geese Howard. It also undoubtedly caught the attention of many thanks to its unexpected crossovers with other franchises.
The King of Fighters All Star welcomed fighters from Street Fighter, TEKKEN, Guilty Gear, Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter and more. Surprisingly, John Cena, The Rock and other WWE personalities also joined the cast during a special event.
