Team Italia lands in Garmisch, in the Alps, to get in touch with the BMW R 1300 GS with which it will race in Namibia in September. The 3 riders are present accompanied by their guide, Andrea Perfetti, and by Stefano Candida, director of the GS Academy. Greetings from Filippo La Mantia
July 11, 2024
The deadline is getting closer, but the three riders of Team Italia, who will race the BMW GS Trophy 2024 in Namibia in September are ready. Mauro Zucca, Andrea and Massimo Gioia together with Andrea Perfetti, who will follow them step by step for Moto.it in Africa, are ready for this incredible adventure.
They are training on motorbikes at the GS Academy directed by Stefano Candida and with Stefano they reached the BMW Motorrad Days in Garmisch for a very special meeting.
Here they saw for the first time the special version of the BMW R 1300 GS with which they will race in Namibia. A GS dedicated to off-road, equipped with protections and with Metzeler Karoo 4 tires. Also present is the Akrapovic exhaust.
Stefano Candida tells us about the journey – strictly by motorbike – they made to reach Garmisch from the GS Academy headquarters. At the Motorrad Days the three riders and their instructor slept in a tent: what better way to prepare for the September challenge?
Before leaving, there is also time for a farewell from chef Filippo La Mantia, with a promise: upon their return, a very special dinner awaits them.
How Team Italy trains at the GS Academy
Below we show you how Team Italy is training at the GS Academy in Momeliano, in the province of Piacenza. The facility led by Stefano Candida is open for driving courses aimed at both individuals and groups of students.
