Held on those days, José Antônio’s 40th birthday dinner brought together the President of the Chamber, Arthur Lira, and Senator Ciro Nogueira.
The senator was the reason Joesley went to jail for six months, between 2017 and 2018. When he confessed to his crimes, the businessman tried to protect Nogueira, which led the then attorney general, Rodrigo Janot, to try to break the plea bargain agreement.
Back then, before the infamous “Joesley Day”, when the scandal came to light and changed the Batistas’ lives, the businessman owned a luxury yacht, valued at US$10 million, which had the suggestive name of “Why not”.
With no pending issues with the Justice system, with the help of ministers, magistrates, politicians and the blessings of the president himself, the Batistas are back. And why wouldn’t they be?
