The Gresini team rider was – without a doubt – the protagonist of an exceptional GP, of a great comeback from 13th to second place, moreover in less than optimal physical conditions. But there is also the other side of the coin: should he have won at Sachsenring? The analysis.

Sachsen – #frontrownews It is dedicated to Marc Marquez, undoubtedly the protagonist of an exhilarating GP. For several reasons: because he started from the fifth row – 13th position – and we know how difficult it is to overtake at the Sachsenring; because he was not at his best physically, after the fall on Friday in pre-qualifying; because between Friday and Saturday everything happened to him, both technically and due to his and other people’s mistakes. For all this, it is right to say and underline that his was a great race. But his speed raises the doubt that he wasted an opportunity. Here too, for several reasons, the main one being that on this track the GP23 did not seem at all inferior to the GP24. So, considering how fast Marc is on this track – a fact also confirmed by today’s race -, if Marquez had been in good physical shape, he could have won. If he didn’t succeed, however, it is not only his fault: his fault was the fall in practice, while it is the team’s fault if they lost their way on Friday. “To have a chance, I would have had to have a perfect weekend, instead it was disastrous” he repeated at the end of the GP. On this occasion, it was clear that a satellite team – even if high level – cannot be compared to an official team. In addition, let’s not forget, Marquez was also unlucky in Q1 with Stefan Bradl, who prevented his last attempt to get to Q2. In short, many reasons to say that it was a wasted opportunity. Without forgetting that his was a great race.
This is today’s #frontrownews, I would like to know your opinion.
