There’s just over a month left until an adaptation that’s been in development for years hits theaters: Borderlands. Despite the chaos in its production, the film has brought together a good number of renowned actors, being Cate Blanchett the most notable and surprising, since no one expected an actress of her caliber to participate in this film.
Thanks to an interview with the American media Empire, we have been able to learn that Blanchett’s choice for this role dates back to the pandemic. According to the actress, it was her husband who helped her take the step to star in this film and thus avoid the monotony of that time.
“Crazy requests are usually the things I’m most drawn to, the things I could never conceive of. I think there was a bit of Covid madness too – I was spending a lot of time in the garden and using the chainsaw too freely, and my husband said to me, ‘This film could save your life.'”
During the COVID-19 era, many people had to find a way to keep themselves entertained at home, since going out was not entirely advisable and entertainment was mostly based on doing all kinds of activities at home for several months.
It was then that Blanchett saw the opportunity to break this routine that was affecting her mental health, since, according to her, she was overdoing it with botany and the use of the chainsaw. This adaptation was wonderful for her to get out of that loop and try new things. Borderlands will hit theaters around the world on August 9, 2024.
