The return of Herlings
The eleventh round of the season sees the West Nusa Tenggara artificial track as the stage, created on the bottom of the airport’s landing strip. Scorching heat and humidity above 60% are the most difficult ingredients to digest, but at least the sun is shining.
The first heat of the premier class opens with the holeshot of Jeremy Seewer, who is promptly overtaken by a Jeffrey Herlings in great form. The Dutchman, after having found the feeling in the race, seems to have regained it also in the starts. From here Herlings begins to dictate the pace of the race and the only one who seems to be able to keep up with him is Prado, at least for the first half of the timed time, because then the Spaniard gives up a bit.
Prado, however, made an excellent start, which allowed him to get behind first Seewer and then Tim Gajser and from here the top three positions were practically decided. The battle that started towards the end of the time trial between Calvin Vlaanderen and the Swiss author of the holeshot was fun, a nice exchange of positions which in the end went in favor of the Yamaha rider who finished fourth, ahead of his teammate, following the best of the Italians, a surprising Andrea Bonacorsi who displaces Jeremy Seewer on the last lap, launching the attack and taking fifth position, this is his best result of the year.
Prado takes second place
The second heat opens with Gajser’s holeshot, but again Jeffrey Herlings makes his way from behind and quickly slips ahead of everyone and takes the lead. Prado goes off the track in an attempt to overtake the Dutchman and Gajser promptly takes advantage of the situation by passing him. The three tackled the first laps closely together until the Dutchman crashed, losing a couple of positions. Gajser takes the lead and Prado starts attacking the Slovenian, he keeps him under pressure and the red plate makes a mistake and he ends up on the ground and loses concentration, in fact after a couple of laps he falls again and loses another three positions to Herlings, Seewer and Vlaanderen. From this moment the top five is decided.
Guadagnini also lost a couple of places due to a fall and thus finished seventh. Bonacorsi instead seemed to suffer from a physical decline and despite a good performance he was unable to overcome the obstacle of twelfth position.
The first of the two Indonesian GPs therefore sees Vlaanderen climb to the lowest step of the podium, second Herlings and first, equal on points with the Dutchman, Prado. The red plate remains firmly in the hands of Tim Gajser.
De Wolf above all
The MX2 riders take to the track and Sacha Coenen takes the holeshot, but Simon Laengenfelder quickly takes the lead, followed by Kay de Wolf and Haarup. A first mistake by the German, around halfway through the timed time, makes him lose a couple of positions, while the second a few laps later makes him drop back to sixth place. The red plate then takes the lead and doesn’t allow anyone to dislodge him. Haarup, faithfully behind him, makes only one mistake, which however proves fatal, a few corners before the finish, he falls and Andrea Adamo promptly passes him. Fourth is Liam Everts, followed by Sacha Coenen.
The beautiful, fun and lively second heat again sees Sacha Coenen as the author of the holeshot, but this time he manages to maintain the lead of the race, at least for the first half of the regular time, then de Wolf goes on the attack and takes the lead until the end. Thus began a fun tussle between the Coenen brothers, in the end Lucas prevailed and took second place, while a fall for Sacha in the final minutes caused him to lose a couple of positions and only thanks to a slip by Haarup in the final corners of the race. last lap he manages to recover one and finish fourth. An excellent Andrea Adamo finished third, having started slightly at the back but managed to recover.
The GP was then won by Kay de Wolf, followed by Adamo and Lucas Coenen.
No stop for the motocross world championship caravan and a short move, in fact they will remain on Indonesian soil, in Lombok, next week for the twelfth appointment.
