MILAN – Imagine Dragons have released their new album “Loom” today, preceded by the single (and video clip) “Nice To Meet You”, on all radios in Italy from Friday, July 5. The album is available in digital format and in physical format on the Universal Music Italia shop. The group’s sixth studio album, LOOM, represents the peak of their artistic journey of self-discovery, as well as their best work to date. The album was produced entirely by Imagine Dragons and their long-time collaborators Mattman and Robin, with whom they managed to find the perfect balance between the classic and original sounds of the group and fresh, new sounds that made them happy in the recording studio. With 9 previously unreleased tracks (including the new single “Eyes Closed”), LOOM brings a new beginning on the horizon for the Las Vegas band.
In a recent interview with Forbes, Dan Reynolds commented: “Every album for me is a reflection of my life, whatever period I’m going through. There are days when I’m nostalgic, or sad, or happy, or jubilant, or angry. I think the songs reflect all of that. And we always try to put the project together in a way that sums up the whole work. This record is about relationships: the end, the beginning, the development of them. That’s why we called it LOOM (in Italian “loom”). If something is looming, it’s not necessarily something bad, it can be a good thing or a bad thing. The cover is a sunrise or a sunset, without knowing if it’s the beginning or the end of something.”
With the release of the album, the band will also embark on their biggest North American tour yet, starting on June 30th in Camden, New Jersey at the Freedom Mortage Pavilion and taking them to the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 22nd. A full schedule of dates can be found on their website https://www.imaginedragonsmusic.com/tour.
The single “Nice to Meet You” is a funk-pop track that is a cheerful tale of the quirks and beauty that appear in the early stages of a relationship. The band has also released the accompanying music video, directed by longtime collaborator Matt Eastin. Set in the nostalgic atmosphere of a retro bar, the video captures the magnetic first meeting (or maybe not?) between singer Dan Reynolds and his new girlfriend. The album’s first single was the single “Eyes Closed,” which has already been among the most played songs on Italian radio and which has also been released in a special duet version with Latin superstar J Balvin.
Last year the members of Imagine Dragons took a break, perhaps the longest in many years, to spend time with their families and friends. Through this new experience and perspective, the band returned to the studio, rediscovering the same great inspiration that characterized their past hits. The musicians reflected on their past to be catapulted into the future, where stylistic boundaries no longer exist and where everything is possible on a creative level. This journey allowed them to create their best album yet: LOOM. To kick off the project, the band chose the first single “Eyes Closed”, which highlights their penchant for pushing boundaries. Overcoming every limit in terms of sound, the Dragons harness an explosion of energy in the single with a high-impact chorus, ready to be sung during the new summer tour.
