The end of the Age of Krakoa in Marvel has completely changed the lives of some of the most relevant X-Men. While the mutants try to say goodbye to that ideal dream in which they intended to live in peace, Apocalypse once again interfered with his plans, believing once again that only war can ensure the long-term survival of the species. After learning that the X-Men have adopted a more egalitarian philosophy, Apocalypse tried to fight the X-Men to keep the situation under control.

Colossus, Sunfire, Emma Frost and Jean Gray are some of the mutants who directly confront the power of Apocalypse. In this scenario, Wolverine and Deadpool joined the party some time later. However, when Apocalypse begins to stab Wolverine with his own adamantium claws, Nightcrawler intervenes with a surprisingly brutal move, teleporting Apocalypse's eyes out of his head.
After surprising the deadly enemy, Nightcrawler and Wolverine regroup as the rest of the X-Men continue to confront Apocalypse, who finally accepts that his methods are no longer enough to guide the mutants of tomorrow. After a fairly resounding defeat, Apocalypse decides to launch a selection period with which he intends to find a new heir who will continue his legacy by forcing the mutant evolution that is still underway.
It is well known by many that Nightcrawler is one of the most peaceful members of the X-Men, but that does not prevent him from causing great wounds to the enemies he faces. Nightcrawler has always been able to cause serious damage by taking parts of his enemies with him when he teleports. Still, Nightcrawler's most common offensive tactics are to teleport around his enemy while he attacks them, a combat style that villains find particularly exhausting. On other emergency occasions, Kurt Wagner has been willing to tear off body parts as is the case.
