Freddy Mensink, chairman of the Stop Wastewater Twente Foundation, is surprised that Vijlbrief gives the green light for oil extraction. “Surveys show that a majority in Drenthe is not in favor. Stop Wastewater Twente is not in favor either. That wastewater does not belong in the soil. In Schoonebeek, 57 percent of the residents are against oil extraction.
