Emmanuel Petit thinks Arsenal's current generation squad will be forgotten after ten years have passed. The failure to win the Premier League title in two consecutive seasons was the cause of these comments.
“Man City is indeed an example of a different team, but they should be an example in terms of the expectations they set for themselves – which makes them only behind Real Madrid who have had a culture like that for a longer time.”
“Our generation has experienced failure to win the title on the last day of a season, in 1999. Currently I can't compare our generation with the current generation, will the current generation of players be remembered after ten years? “I hope they can win the title beautifully soon,” said Emmanuel Petit in an interview with GFFN.
Petit continued to praise Arsenal's players and Mikel Arteta's performance as coach. However, the French football legend still believes that history will only remember the team or country that achieved the success they targeted.
The Gunners finished in second place in the Premier League for two consecutive seasons. So far, Arteta has only been able to win the FA Cup title with the North London club. Now there are higher expectations for the coach and his players to win the title from Man City.
