FC Bayern Munich was able to present the long-awaited successor to Thomas Tuchel during the week, thus at least patching up what was probably the biggest problem of the last few months. The Belgian Vincent Kompany is not a completely new coach coming to the German record champions, but Kompany has only had experience at a club with such high standards as a player. The ex-professional played 360 competitive games for Manchester City, among others, and was considered one of the best central defenders in the Premier League. Sky has now published the figures surrounding the Kompany deal, and the 38-year-old's salary is particularly surprising.
Kompany has a contract with FC Bayern until 2027 and will cost the Munich team a fixed transfer fee of 10 to 11 million euros plus possible bonus payments to FC Burnley. FC Chelsea were also said to be interested in Kompany. This interest from the Blues is apparently responsible for a small surprise in terms of the Belgian's impressive salary. Bayern apparently had to dig deep into their pockets to avoid being outdone by the competition from London.
Kompany is expected to receive a gross salary of 7-9 million euros at FC Bayern, including possible bonus payments, making him one of the highest-earning coaches in the club's history. “I would have judged it differently,” said SkyTransfer expert Florian Plettenberg said in the transfer update on Friday evening and added “Vincent Kompany is a real top earner.” In comparison, Julian Nagelsmann and Hansi Flick earned around “six plus three” million euros, while Thomas Tuchel earned nine million euros gross fixed. Carlo Ancelotti is said to have earned as much as twelve million at FC Bayern.
