Mauricio Pochettino felt proud after Chelsea finished sixth in the 2023/24 Premier League. This success was achieved thanks to 2-1 win over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (19/5).
“I am very satisfied and proud of the players because you could see at the end of the game, the players who played a lot, the ones who played less, the injured players, how they came to hug me. I think that was a moment that epitomized the relationship we had.”
“Sometimes we have to be strict with the players but we are proud that they understand that and continue to work hard. “Even when going through difficult moments throughout the season, they continue to respect us and feel confident in the plans we want to implement,” said Pochettino, quoted from the club's official website.
Pochettino emphasized that Chelsea should not feel proud after finishing in sixth place. The West London team is going through a transition phase in the two years of ownership of BlueCo (Todd Boehly – Clearlake Capital). They are also still waiting for the results of the FA Cup match.
If Man City wins, the Blues can take part in the Europa League in the 2024/25 season. Meanwhile, if Manchester United wins, the team based at Stamford Bridge will participate in the Europa Conference League.
