As gamers, we certainly want more people to enjoy the activity we love. Whether just for fun or getting into the super serious realm of competitive gaming, the growing size of the gaming industry also means an increasingly diverse community that has or wants to try it. One positive trend that deserves our welcome? In the name of comfort, quite a few console and peripheral manufacturers are trying to make this experience as enjoyable as possible for gamers with certain disabilities, both in terms of software and hardware. This is also what Microsoft continues to push for.
Apart from the charming Xbox Adaptive Controller, Microsoft introduced an alternative type of controller that they built together with Byowave. Aimed at maximizing gaming activities for people with disabilities, this controller called Proteus is designed with a modular design foundation. Gamers can “build” their own controller according to their needs using small parts that can be replaced while also being supported by software that allows each button to change its function. Proteus promises more than 100 types of configuration combinations to enjoy.
Will be released in the fall of 2024 with a current pre-order price of USD 255, Proteus will be able to be used directly on devices such as Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC. Apart from this small part, the sales package will also provide a charging cable and a Bluetooth dongle. What do you think? Looks interesting?
