Rome, 14 May 2024 – Five days before the last appointment to obtain a pass valid for Paris 2024 Gamesthe Technical Director Francesco Cattaneo has made it official the teams that will be competing in Lucerne.
It will be the legendary Rotsee, a Swiss body of water which is the setting for many epic rowing battles, which will act as the ideal stage for those who manage to snatch one of the last cards available in the Final Olympic & Paralympic Qualification Regatta. It will be a highly anticipated eventscheduled from Sunday 19th to Tuesday 21st May, which will see 183 crews take to the water for only 37 places available for the French Games: 30 Olympians and 7 Paralympians.
From the Olympic and Paralympic national teamin training at Schiranna in Varese, will be eight crews will go to Lucerne with the aim of obtaining a “visa” for the Olympics and Paralympics. There are six Olympic boats (two without, eight senior and women's double lightweight, four without, single and eight senior men) and two Paralympic boats (four with mixed PR3 and mixed double PR2): “They are all formations resulting from the long work carried out during these months to arrive at this important qualifying event, the result of internal selections to find the fastest crew – states the technical director Cattaneo, who adds – these eight boats present themselves at the last valid event to participate in the Paris Games with the athletes aware that it will not be an easy commitment, but also with the knowledge that they have all prepared at the highest levels to face the challenge that awaits them in Lucerne.” Below are the lineups:
